  1. Dawson, Imani. "Hip-hop debate focuses on images of women." 24 March 2005. 28 May 2008 .
This article tells you about a hip-hop panel that was held to talk about hip-hop’s image of women. Different women like mothers and teachers talked about how they feel about the message that hip-hop give girls. It tells you how in the music they call women different names and say they do different nasty things to men. They feel that when the girls hear the music they feel that they should go out and do some of the things they talk about in the song. Like a teacher said that she has witnessed girls doing things in the hall way which she thinks they wouldn’t do if it wasn’t for hip-hop music. I would give this article a 9 because I really helped me under more about the image of women in hip-hop.
  2. Sympson, Troy. "Jigga What?- The Impact of Hip-Hop Culture on Today's Youth." 2008 28 May 2008 http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/442482/jigga_what_the_impact_of_hiphop_culture.html
In this article the author really breaks down a lot of the slang words that they use in hip-hop music and communities. He took a list of words and defined them and gave an example of when it was used in a song or saying. This article could help anyone who wants to know and understand what they are saying in hip-hop music if they don’t listen to the music. He also gave a brief description of the style of clothing and attitude that comes along with hip-hop music and culture. I would give this article a 7, because it was good info but it was someone’s opinion.
  3. Inyagwa, Nyadenya. "Hip-hop article say music benefits the community." 29 Nov 2007 28 May 2008 .
This article is about a panel that was held in D.C. to discuss hip hop. It says that hip-hop can help people who take it the right way. They feel that music can help people to think. Also those music artists have a good impact on people but some artists today don’t pay much attention to shaping people’s actions for the good. But there is still some good in the music and that you can get good messages from it. I would give this article a 3, because it really didn’t help me that much but it did give me some information.
  4. Hicks, Jeffrey. "How Hip-Hop Destroys the Potential of Black Youth." 29 May 2008 .
This article talks about how hip-hop can have the potential to destroy black youth. It says that it teaches the youth about how to act in the streets and how to behave badly. Also that hip-hop is the main root of underachieving. Hip-hop is just misleading the youth and discouraging them to do better in life. I would give this article a 5, because it gives some information but not enough.
  5. "The Hip-Hop Style." 28 Aug 2004 29 May 2008 .
This article talks about how hip hop has influenced boy and young men to dress a certain way. They copy what they see the artist wearing, for example baggy jeans and big T shirts. They think that the artist got some of these styles like the baggy jeans from prison life. They say they wear their pants like the men in prison do because sometimes their pants are too big. This style has been going on ever since hip hop started, but now some people don’t accept the way they dress and when the young men wear it people don’t like it. Also it says that these styles are not just in the black communities either, everyone world wide have caught on to these style trends. I would give this article a 9, because it gave a lot of great information about where and what the style is about and from.
  6. "HIP HOP Clothing and Today?s Youth ? They?re Inseparable." 18 Nov 2005 29 May 2008 .
This article talks about how people don’t accept the hip-hop style because they are not used to it. But they say that one day it will be accepted in the world just like a business suit or formal wear. They also talk about how the style was mad for you to be comfortable and confident. Also that when a person from the “ghetto” wears this style it shows they are “street smart.” Plus that the bright colors and flashiness of this style is to show who you really are and to show that you are not afraid to stand out in a crowd. So really it’s saying that the hip-hop clothing style helps people who wear it show who they are and helps raise their confidence. I would give this article a 7, because it gave me a lot of good information about what the style is.
  7. Dorig, Ness. "What Is Hip Hop - Hip Hop Culture, Clothing, Jewelry And Music." 04 Nov 2007 29 May 2008 .
This article talks about some of what hip-hop really is. It says that it is a way of life and some people think it is only about rap music, but its not. Hip-hop is about the way people in urban cities live and their stories about struggling and trying to live in this world. Hip- hop is like taking these people’s lives and making money off of it. So it really just talks about how hip-hop isn’t just one thing, its life. I would give this article a 5, because it had good information but not really enough.
  8. Toms, Gary. "Hip-Hop's Nagative impact on Kids." 30 May 2008 .
This article was written by a man who used to be a DJ and have gave his view on how hip-hop is now and how it used to be. He feels like the music has changed a lot, also it is like robbing kid’s childhood. He feels that the artists that come out with hip-hop music are become younger and younger by the year. He said that the artist now only rap about glamour and big money, when old hip-hop music really talked about issues that was going on at the time. I really like this article, because it got to let me see how someone who worked in the industry when the music was good tell how he view the music now. I would give this article an 8, because it has some good information in it but it is someone opinion.
  9. "Hip-Hop: Negative Effects on Today's Youth." 30 May 2008 .
This article gives information about the definition of hip-hop and what it means to the youth. It also gives some facts about how hip-hop has influenced gang violence. The author also talks bout how hip-hop isn’t the only negative effect on the youth, but it has a big effect on it. He also thinks that something should be done by the negative effect to try to improve the behavior of the youth. I would give this article a 9, because it gives good information and it also gives statistics to help you see some of the problems.
  10. Smith, Joshua. "Rap/Hip-Hop's Negative Impact on Society." 27 Oct 2007 30 May 2008 .
This article is about how people stereo type African Americans through Hip-Hop music. It says that it is unfair, because these songs are bout violence and drugs but that is not how all African Americans are. Also that they shouldn’t look at African Americans the way that they do. Really what this article is about is the stereo typing that African Americans have to go through because of hip-hop music. I give this article a 5 because there is only a little information and I wish there was more.
